2007 Program Highlights

State of Utah funding for the Weatherization program is leveraged with six additional private and federal grants at a ratio of approximately $284 from those sources to each dollar from the state. Such matches help minimize state investments and allow increased services and program flexibility. Funds contributed by Questar Gas and Utah Power have increased the scope of the program to include natural gas health and safety and electrical base-load reduction measures. During fiscal year 2007, the following Weatherization services were provided:

The demographics of households served include:

  • 65% are at or below 75% of poverty and/or have annual incomes of $8,000 or less
  • 60% are on fixed incomes
  • 36% are the working poor
  • 30% have a disabled person in the household
  • 33% are receiving social security
  • 38% are elderly households
  • 45% are families with preschool age children in the home
  • 5% are Native American households
