Continuum of Care (CofC)The Continuum of Care is a term utilized nationwide by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to identify the various programs and processes in place to help low-income individuals become self sufficient. In a sense, it is the collaborative effort of many different resources along a continuum to help individuals improve their social and economic situations. In Utah, there are three Continua of Care:
Each of these Continua gather participation from various stakeholders within their geographic region to identify needs and solutions to better serve their communities. One of the major priorities of the Continuum process is the annual application for program funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. There are two main programs operated under this competitive process: In 2005, Utah received over $6,000,000 in funding for these projects. Agencies and individuals who wish to get involved in the continuum process are encouraged to contact their regional continuum of care. This is located within most Associations of Governments.
